BETH EVANS
Acrylic and Encaustic Artist
What is
Encaustic Art?
The word encaustic comes from the Greek word enkaustikos, meaning "to heat" or "to burn". This method of painting goes back to ancient Greece. The technique involves melting beeswax with resin and pigment to form the paint. The coloured was is then applied with each layer fused to the layer beneath it. Encaustic paintings will never yellow or darken with age as with traditional oil paintings.
