I can never remember a time when I was not drawing or painting.

Over the past 20 years I have painted mainly in acrylic but recently discovered Encaustic.  With my acrylic work I add Japanese paper and other items to build up the texture. I love the organic nature of encaustic.  I enjoy the fluidity, translucency and challenges that occur when the wax is melted and applied to the surface.

It becomes a spiritual process as I push the boundary of texture, colour and form.  Since nature is a regular theme in my work, encaustic is a perfect match.

My goal is to engage the viewer, make them pause and consider the beauty, struggle and fragility of the image.  If this occurs my painting is a success.
